Pheasant tail is extensively used at our tying studio, as it is one of the best natural body materials. Also other birds like goose are used often. They look so buggy and versatile but relatively fragile.
Wire or tinsel are used for ribbing on nymphs but we sometimes don't want
to use metal wires on dry flies. In those cases, we coat the body with
lacquer so that fibers won't come off. All peacock bodies are reinforced
likewise. |

当工房ではフェザント・テールを多用します。その他、沢山のフライでグースなど様々な鳥のフェザーを使ってボディーを巻いています。その虫っぽさや美しさは言うまでもありませんが、あまり頑丈な材料とは言えません。
ニンフではワイヤなどのリビングをよくしますが、ドライフライの場合金属を使うことによって、重量が増すため、あまり使いたくない場面があります。この際、何も補強をしないと魚が食いつくたびにボロボロになってしまいます。そのような時は樹脂で補強をしています。ピーコックにも多用します。 |
